New partners at Lenz & Staehelin

Valérie Menoud
Dr. iur., Attorney at Law, LL.M.

Valérie Menoud specializes in banking and finance law, as well as corporate law. She advises Swiss and international clients from the banking, insurance, and wealth management sectors on a wide range of issues, including regulatory, compliance and contractual matters. Valérie Menoud regularly assists in dispute proceedings, in particular in financial matters, and represents clients in proceedings before the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) and other authorities. Her expertise also encompasses corporate reorganizations, corporate governance and sustainable finance. After obtaining a law degree from the University of Lausanne, Valérie Menoud was a research assistant at the University of Zurich and, in 2010, she was awarded a doctorate in law (PhD). In 2011, Valérie Menoud was admitted to the Geneva Bar and continued her carrier as an associate in the banking and finance department of Lenz & Staehelin's Geneva and Zurich offices. In 2012, she was seconded to FINMA. Valérie Menoud obtained an LL.M. from Stanford Law School in 2015, before working for a major New York law firm. She also was a part-time lecturer at the University of Lausanne's Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC Lausanne), where she taught business law in 2015 and 2017. She is a member of a number of Swiss and international professional associations. Valérie Menoud regularly speaks at professional conferences and publishes frequently in her areas of expertise

Hikmat Maleh
Attorney at Law, LL.M.

Hikmat Maleh has a broad practice across the spectrum of criminal and commercial litigation. He is notably recognized for his work on white-collar crime, fraud and asset recovery cases on behalf of institutional clients and individuals. Hikmat Maleh represents clients before Swiss courts in complex litigation, with a focus on multi-jurisdictional proceedings arising out of financial sector disputes. He also has experience acting in employment disputes and advising clients in the context of internal investigations, as well as in arbitration and sports law matters. Hikmat Maleh holds Bachelor and Master of law degrees from the Universities of Geneva and Berlin (Humboldt), a Certificate in Transnational Law and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Legal Professions delivered by the University of Geneva, and an LL.M. in International Law from the University of Cambridge. He was admitted to the Geneva Bar in 2013. Hikmat Maleh has spent his entire career at Lenz & Staehelin in Geneva and in Zurich. He works in French, English, German and Arabic and is a member of various professional organizations.
